Design Leadership
Across 4 Years
Challenge
”How might we help designers and collaborators work together more effectively, so they stay focused on delivering a seamless user experience across channels?”
Measurement
”We’ll know we’re successful when UX sprint velocity increases, usability testing scores improve, and product containment stays even or increases.”
My Contributions
Lead UX designer, UX strategy, business strategy, illustrator, UI designer.
Experience Vision
As part of a Digital Task Force in 2018, I created an Experience Vision to help Alliance Data associates imagine having a single conversation with customers across multiple channels when creating digital experiences.
UX Innovation & Omnichanel
As the book of work and influence of the UX team grew at Alliance Data, I authored a paper on shifting our design focus. I identified a detailed strategy for becoming more innovative and thinking more omnichannel.
UX Process
I led the creation of Alliance Data’s Digital UX Process as an inclusive guide through design phases. This artifact also helps new stakeholders understand the why and how behind UX activities.
UX Design Framework
I created the UX Velocity Framework as a modifier to the Digital UX Process to help designers move faster without sacrificing quality (hint: it’s collaboration!).
Responsive Web Design System
I planned and led creating a design component library in Figma for card-member-facing digital products, helping to create consistent UI design and reduce design churn.
Impact
With the above guidelines and processes in place, the UX team has increased velocity (how much work gets done in a two-week sprint) by 36% over the last year. Additionally, designers are working more effectively and stakeholders feel in the loop:
UX resource planning with the enterprise is now a monthly ritual
Average UX project design hours needed have reduced by +25%
Product containment increased and remains at +98.5%
